An Encouraging Word…by Suzanne Strangland MA, LPC

LIFE is hard!  There are so many struggles we face that it is easy to get caught in the whirlwind of the daily grind…kids getting sick, falling behind in home management, uncertainty about how to handle an interpersonal issue, work stressors, and financial decisions.  However, these situations and more are the opportunities in which God urges us to seek Him.

Matthew 11:28 (NIV) exhorts us to “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  This scripture reminds us that we were never meant to be doing life alone!  God is a God of a community as seen in the Holy Trinity, and He desires us to be in community with Him.  He longs for us to come to Him so He can ease our pain.  It is a blessing to have the King of Kings in our court waiting to coach us along in whatever needs we have.

So, here is my encouragement to you: Live your life alongside the Father, drawing from His strength for the day-to-day and reaping the benefits of the kind of rest and refreshment only He can provide. Pray. Journal. Read Scripture. Listen to worship songs. Serve someone. Talk with a fellow believer. In these activities, God will speak to your heart and refresh your soul.
